“LabBuddy made our work so much easier!”
Leiden Academic Centre for Drug Research; Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences; Bioanalysis of Drugs

The challenge

LabBuddy allows visual lab preparation. Preparation for a lab course using a written protocol can be abstract and inefficient, since students don’t understand how certain equipment and procedures look like. Therefore, they are not very confident when they enter the lab and need a lot of help with simple procedures.

The transformation

We integrated videoprotocols of experimental steps within the LabBuddy building blocks. These were linked to questions, such that the students were better engaged and could test their knowledge prior to performing experiments.

The final result

The self-esteem and independence of our students is enhanced. In the lab we spend less time on instructing simple handling procedures, and more time on discussion about the techniques and expected results.

Webinar: Enhancing lab education with LabBuddy

Following the inspiring Present-day Practicals Webinar Series, we’re hosting a dedicated LabBuddy webinar. LabBuddy provides an e-learning solution to support students in preparing before the start of the practical work, while working in the lab, and to guide them during the processing of their results after the practical work. During this session, Lukas Lätsch from ETH Zurich and Lauren Deneyer from EhB (Brussels) will share their experiences.
