“With LabBuddy, we turned Biosafety training into an interactive journey “
Maastricht University; Faculty of Health Medicine and Life Sciences; Biosafety Course

The challenge

Given the constraints of time and space, we explored the use of interactive digital simulations as an alternative approach within the biosafety course, enabling students to engage with practical scenarios without the need for physical presence in the laboratory.

The transformation

Using LabBuddy, we developed an interactive module in which two case studies are explored. This approach enables students to engage with complete experimental workflows in a cohesive and structured manner.

The final result

The use of LabBuddy as a replacement for practical training has been well-received by students. One of the key advantages is that it allows students to determine the timing and pace of their learning independently. Moreover, it requires minimal time investment from the teaching staff.

Webinar: Enhancing lab education with LabBuddy

Following the inspiring Present-day Practicals Webinar Series, we’re hosting a dedicated LabBuddy webinar. LabBuddy provides an e-learning solution to support students in preparing before the start of the practical work, while working in the lab, and to guide them during the processing of their results after the practical work. During this session, Lukas Lätsch from ETH Zurich and Lauren Deneyer from EhB (Brussels) will share their experiences.
